Let’s get to the Day 6 recap!

Seahawks swap out interior defensive linemen
Get used to non-injury related roster churn over the next several weeks. Nose tackle Justin Rogers was waived on Tuesday, with former Harvard and Louisville defensive tackle Thor Griffith taking his spot. Griffith was an FCS All-American selection at Harvard and recorded three sacks in his lone season with the Louisville Cardinals.
Notes and Quotes
A better day for the offense
After Mike Macdonald showing obvious displeasure with the offense on Monday, the main storyline to watch was how well the offense would respond in Day 2 of padded practices. It looks like the message was heard loud and clear from the first-team through the third-teamers.
Offense starting practice faster today, as Mike Macdonald wanted. All three units scored TDs in quick red zone drill — AJ Barner catch, George Holani and Damien Martinez runs.
Then Sam Darnold dropped a 35yd deep ball to JSN (vs Jobe) in next team period .

Tory Horton just caught a long ball on Nehemiah Pritchett in 7 on 7. Drew Lock made the throw.

…But it wasn’t all domination for the offense
I believe this is Drew Lock’s first training camp interception, and it was caught by a roster bubble corner in Nehemiah Pritchett. It was a difficult rookie season for Pritchett in limited playing time, so any positive moments he can have in camp, preseason, and in the film room will be crucial as far as staying on the roster.

A.J. Finley also picked off rookie Jalen Milroe.

The first sign of training camp chippiness!
As the practices get more physical, typically you’ll get some training camp skirmishes, scuffles, and shoving matches. It didn’t take too long for that to materialize, with Anthony Bradford and rookie Jared Ivey getting into it.
1-on-1 pass-rush drill in #Seahawks camp day 6, full go: Rookie 1st-rd pick LG Grey Zabel, best day yet. Stops Mike Morris, then Byron Murphy.
RG Anthony Bradford throws down LB Jared Ivey, Ivey goes at him, then they grab each other’s helmets. Teammates swarm, then separated

A big day for Dareke Young
With the Seahawks drafting two wide receivers and signing Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Dareke Young’s future on the roster looks fairly shaky. The third-year player from Lenoir-Rhyne had a few bright spots throughout Tuesday’s practice.
Dareke Young has several good catches today.
— Deep ball in 1 on 1 for a TD from Drew Lock.
— First down catch over the middle from Drew Lock on 3rd down in team period.
— First down catch on crossing route from Jalen Milroe.— Dugar, Michael-Shawn (@MikeDugar) July 29, 2025
3 notable Seahawks not at practice
Shaquill Griffin is reportedly going to return to practice later this week after leaving due to a personal matter. Ernest Jones IV is also out due to a personal matter. Running back Kenneth Walker III didn’t practice but no indication that it was injury-related. Mike Macdonald wasn’t available for post-practice questions.
Grey Zabel talks about ‘big brother’ Charles Cross
The Seahawks’ offensive line issues have put a greater spotlight on first-round pick Grey Zabel, who will hopefully be one of the cornerstones of Seattle’s line for years to come. As the projected starting left guard, he’ll be alongside Charles Cross, who’s been a great help to Zabel as he experiences life as an NFL player.
“I can’t even put into words how much,” Zabel said in his media availability. “A guy like Charles Cross has helped me so far. He seems like a big brother to me, guiding me though the ranks, what to expect, and some tips and tricks. It goes all the way across the board from Olu [Oluwatimi], Jalen [Sundell], I’m fortunate to be in the offensive line room that I am in.”
Speaking of Sundell, he was a teammate of Zabel’s at North Dakota State. Depending on how the competition plays out, Sundell and Zabel could be starting as left guard and center or even at opposite guard spots. Whatever happens, the reunion is a welcome one for Zabel.
“Just like the good old days, back in Fargo, North Dakota playing next to each other,” Zabel said. “A lot of times we don’t really talk, then after a play we finish each other’s sentences, that’s a little jump scare. It’s awesome to play next to him and he’s a great dude as well.”

Zabel said of this moment with Cross: “I just had to show him a few Midwest traditions as we’re getting to know each other. You could probably say I was a bad influence on him.”
