Welcome to the week of the ROG Xbox Ally launch! With just days to go until these new handhelds are in the hands of the public, more footage is creeping out onto the likes of YouTube and social media that suggests it’s going to be an awesomely powerful system – at least in the case of the ROG Xbox Ally X model.
This latest footage is coming from the YouTube channel GameV, which has posted gameplay footage for the likes of Battlefield 6, Helldivers 2, Forza Motorsport, Black Ops 6 and Fortnite (with likely a lot more to come).
You can see a few of the videos down below, but let’s break them down a little bit:
- Battlefield 6 is shown running with “low” settings at a variety of resolutions with AMD FSR turned on, and it’s hovering around the 60FPS mark.
- Helldivers 2 is also mainly set to “low” settings although some are turned up to “medium” and “high”, and it runs around 60-70FPS for the most part (1080p).
- Forza Motorsport on “high” settings with ray-tracing and AMD FSR seems to run around 50-55FPS at 1080p resolution and 60FPS at 900p resolution.
- Black Ops 6 is tested on the lowest power mode (Silent, 13w) with balanced graphics settings and AMD FSR turned on, and hits about 40FPS in this mode. When going up to the next power mode (Performance, 17w), it’s around 60FPS. On the highest power mode (Turbo, 35w – plugged in), the game can be played with “Extreme” graphics settings at 60FPS.
- Fortnite seems to run at around 70-80FPS on medium settings when plugged into the wall (1080p).
As always with any pre-launch product, you shouldn’t read too much into any of these performance tests – they’re only indicative of one person’s experience, and who knows if they’ll change alongside any kind of day one updates when the ROG Xbox Ally releases on October 16th.
They do at least give us an impression of how well these games will play on the ROG Xbox Ally X though, and they’re certainly interesting to watch! We’ll throw the Battlefield 6, Helldivers 2 and Forza Motorsport videos down below, and you can check out the Black Ops 6 and Fortnite videos over on the YouTube channel itself if you’re interested.
Also note that the YouTuber says these videos “don’t do justice” in terms of how good these games look on the ROG Xbox Ally X due to being recorded through a phone.
