We’re fast approaching the end of the year, but that doesn’t mean the release schedule is slowing down. Quite the contrary, in fact, because October specifically is stacked.

Obviously you already know about Ghost of Yotei (which is out now as we publish this), but Battlefield 6 is just days away and then the end of the month will mark the arrival of Ninja Gaiden 4 and Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake. (To name just a few.)

You’ll find all of the highlights below, but do remember to tell us what you’re buying and why.

It doesn’t get much bigger than Ghost of Yotei when it comes to new PS5 releases. The highly anticipated sequel to Sucker Punch’s historical open world will bring with it a new story, sandbox, and an avalanche of fresh gameplay opportunities.

Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu. Thirsty for revenge, she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier.

Sixteen years after her family’s death, Atsu’s quest across Ezo brings her to unexplored lands in search of a gang of six outlaws, but she finds much more than vengeance.

Throughout her journey, Atsu will discover unlikely allies, and greater bonds than she could have imagined.

After a bunch of misfires, EA looks like it’s finally back on target with Battlefield 6, a first-person shooter that’s been generating an absurd amount of hype since its open beta earlier in the month.

The ultimate all-out warfare experience. Fight in high-intensity infantry combat. Rip through the skies in aerial dogfights. Demolish your environment for a strategic advantage. Harness complete control over every action and movement using the Kinesthetic Combat System. In a war of tanks, fighter jets, and massive combat arsenals—the deadliest weapon is your squad. This is Battlefield 6.

Victory, however you envision it. Battlefield 6 has more ways to win than ever before. Seize glory in iconic, large-scale modes including Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush. Jump into fast-paced action with King of the Hill, Domination, and Payload. Change the rules of war with the revamped and refined Battlefield Portal. Fight in iconic locations all over the world including Cairo, Brooklyn, Gibraltar and more.

It’s been over a decade since Ninja Gaiden 3, so it feels like the moment is right for Ninja Gaiden 4. With legendary action game maker PlatinumGames on development duties, this will be one well worth keeping an eye on.

Experience a return to the intense, high-octane action that established NINJA GAIDEN as a premier action game series.

This long-awaited instalment introduces an all-new protagonist in Yakumo, a young ninja prodigy whose fate is intertwined with the legendary Ryu Hayabusa himself.

Prepare for a legacy reborn with exhilarating style and thrilling action for a new generation of players. With adjustable difficulty settings and a customisable experience, NINJA GAIDEN 4 will push action game veterans to their limits while inviting newcomers to rise to the legendary ranks of Master Ninja.

Hell will freeze over when a year passes without a new Call of Duty game, and that’s not going to happen this year. Black Ops 7 pulls the military property into a near-future conflict, continuing the story of David Mason in a campaign that can be played entirely in co-op. There’s also the usual mix of multiplayer and Zombies to engage with.

In Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7, Treyarch and Raven Software are bringing players the most mind-bending Black Ops ever.

The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare. David Mason leads an elite JSOC team on a covert mission to the sprawling Mediterranean city of Avalon. While there, they discover a sophisticated plot that won’t just plunge the world into chaos, it will pull them into their own haunting pasts.

Squad up or go solo in an innovative Co-Op Campaign that redefines the Black Ops experience. Take on high-stakes challenges across a wide spectrum of environments, from the neon-lit rooftops of Japan to the Mediterranean coast, and even into the deepest corners of the human psyche.

Multiplayer explodes out of the gate with 16 electrifying 6v6 maps and two 20v20 maps at launch. From futuristic Tokyo vistas to the frozen, unforgiving wilds of Alaska, every environment is brimming with danger and opportunity. Master a cutting-edge arsenal and outmanoeuvre your enemies with an evolved Omnimovement system.

In Treyarch’s legendary Round-Based Zombies mode, the nightmare begins where reality ends. Trapped in the heart of the Dark Aether, the crew is thrust into a vast, ever-shifting hellscape. This isn’t just survival. It’s a descent into madness.
