Netflix has announced everything coming to the streaming service in September 2025, and there’s one big name that will be dominating Netflix this month: “Wednesday.” Yes, the hit horror comedy is back for season 2 (again), but this time we’re getting the epic conclusion to the murder mystery rather than being left on a cliffhanger like last month.
That’s not my most anticipated show of the month, though. That honor goes to “Black Rabbit,” a limited series starring Jude Law as a restaurateur whose brother, played by Jason Bateman, suddenly returns at the worst possible time. He’s now forced to ensure his brother doesn’t destroy his business, a challenge that will put both of them in danger.
Aside from these top picks, I’ve got the full slate of everything new on Netflix this month listed below. Plus, we have a roundup of what’s leaving Netflix in September 2025, so you have one last chance to watch.

New on Netflix in August 2025: Top picks
‘Wednesday’ season 2 part 2
“Wednesday” season 2 part 2 picks up the Jenna Ortega murder mystery following the shocking midseason finale of “Wednesday” season 2. That finale saw a stunning death, and based on the official trailer, it looks like more than one character could be back from the dead.
For those who didn’t catch season 1, this horror comedy series stars Jenna Ortega as the iconic Wednesday Addams. In the first season, she was tasked with solving a murder mystery at her new school, Nevermore Academy. This season, she’s been trying to solve a murder before it happens, because she might be the perpetrator. Catch up now before part 2 arrives Sept. 3.

‘Black Rabbit’
As I already mentioned, “Black Rabbit” stars Jude Law as Jake Friedken, owner of the restaurant and lounge Black Rabbit, which is on the precipice of becoming the spot to be seen at in New York’s nightlife. But then Jake’s brother Vince (Bateman) shows up, and he brings a lot of baggage with him.
That baggage is now Jake’s problem, including a two grand a week debt that Jake now owes gangster Joe Mancuso (Troy Kotsur) on Vince’s behalf. If he can’t find a way out of that debt, he could lose everything, but he still can’t just toss his brother aside.
Based on the trailer, this show has everything I want from a drama. It’s a miniseries, so you know it will reach a satisfying conclusion. The cast is loaded with talent, with Law and Kotsur combining for three Oscar nominations (and one win) and Bateman bringing seven acting Emmy nominations of his own to the call sheet. There’s no guarantee this show is a hit, but after watching the trailer, I don’t see how this thriller fails.

‘The Wrong Paris’
Sometimes, there’s an idea so good you’re suprised it’s never happened before. But as far as I can tell, “The Wrong Paris” is the first movie where the protagonist unwittingly ends up in Paris, Texas instead of Paris, France.
This romantic comedy stars Miranda Cosgrove as Dawn, an aspiring Texan artist who’s just been accepted to art school in Paris (the French one) but has no way to get there or stay there. But one day, her friend hatches a plan: Dawn should join the cast of “The Honeypot: Paris,” a dating show set in Paris. If she joins, she’ll already be in Paris and then will just need to get herself eliminated and begin her dream of being an artist in France.
Dawn does exactly that, but after nine hours in the air realizes that the show’s producers have pulled a bait-and-switch, and now she’s in Paris, Texas, just a few miles from her hometown. But things take an interesting turn when the clean-cut cowboy (Pierson Fodé) she met at a bar days earlier turns out to be the show’s eligible bachelor.

‘House of Guinness’
“House of Guinness” comes from the mind of “Peaky Blinders” creator Stephen Knight, and is a new ongoing series, so don’t expect to get the whole story of Ireland’s famous brewery in just one sitting.
The historical drama is set in 1868, just after the death of family patriarch Sir Benjamin Guinness, who transformed his father’s brewery into a titanic business. The show primarily takes place in Dublin, Ireland and across the pond in New York, and stars Anthony Boyle as Arthur Guinness, Louis Partridge as Edward Guinness, Emily Fairn as Anne Plunket (née Guinness) and Fionn O’Shea as Benjamin Guinness.
As Benjamin’s children, these four now hold the fate of one of Ireland’s largest commercial empires in their hands. My hype meter for this show is already quite high, but a first trailer could take things all the way up to 11.

‘Haunted Hotel’
If you love animated shows aimed at adults, then “Haunted Hotel” should be right up your alley. The horror comedy series was created by “Rick and Morty” writer Matt Roller and features an impressive voice cast of comedic talent, led by Will Forte.
The show centers around Katherine (Eliza Coupe), a single mother struggling to make ends meet by running The Undervale Hotel… which happens to be incredibly haunted. At least she has some help from her estranged brother, Nathan, her kids Ben (Skyler Gisondo) and Esther (Natalie Palamides), and Abbadon… who is a demon possessing the body of a little boy from the 1700s.
Okay, so maybe Abbadon isn’t always helpful, but after watching this trailer, he’s helped sell me on “Haunted Hotel.” Especially when he comes face-to-face with one of his old friends from Hell (voiced by Keith David).
