A new leak narrows the next Nintendo Direct to the second week of September, lining up with Mario’s 40th and fueling hopes for a Metroid Prime 4 release date.
The September Nintendo Direct chatter is picking up again. This originally started when a Nintendo content creator, SwitchForce, made a cryptic post on X (Twitter), hinting at a presentation on September 12, 2025. (the “912” clue)
Since then, multiple reports have echoed the same timeframe, mid-September, without official confirmation from Nintendo. VGC says its own sources also point to that window, which lines up with Nintendo’s usual September cadence.

Today, a well-known Nintendo insider publicly narrowed the timing to the second week of the month, strengthening the case that a general Direct is right around the corner.
Next Nintendo Direct Date Leaked
The new details come via a post on X from a reliable Nintendo leaker, NateTheHate, who said that the general Nintendo Direct presentation is planned for the latter half of the second week of September. That matches earlier reports of a mid-September Direct and, in some cases, points specifically to the end of that week.
Here’s what the leaker posted on X:
“Yes, there is a Nintendo Direct in September. When: The second week of the month, in the latter half on or around Sept 11 or 12th.”
As always, remember this is still unconfirmed. Nintendo hasn’t announced a date or time as of August 31, 2025, so treat it as a strong rumor until the company officially announces on social channels.

So what could be revealed during this general Direct presentation? The most obvious candidate is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. It’s listed for 2025 on Nintendo’s store and already has an ESRB rating, which usually precedes a date reveal.
There’s also the Mario angle: with the 40th landing on September 13, a Direct the day before would make perfect sense for anniversary content. Bottom line: multiple independent reports now say mid-September for a general Nintendo Direct, and today’s post further narrows the target to the second week, specifically around September 11 or 12.
If Nintendo sticks to past patterns, we’d expect an official announcement roughly 24 to 48 hours before the stream, which would be on September 9 or 10.
