New Hades 2 patch notes have just landed, as Supergiant Games expands the sequel’s true ending and speeds up unlocks. This first post-launch update has been in testing for the past week, but now it’s made it to the live version, and there are a few extras to dig through. Hades 2 patch 1 brings faster progression for Fated Prophecies, enhancements to the grand climax of the story, and buffs for quite a few boons and blessings. There are also new options to switch off that irritating low-health flash and fix your fps.
The new Hades 2 update arrived via the preview build last week, but its final version has been further tweaked in response to feedback. The most significant aspect remains the same; Supergiant has introduced several “new events in the lead-up to the true ending, and some after.” It’s also adjusted some parts of the existing scenes that appear before credits roll.
These changes mean you’ll now be required to obtain more Underworld clears to see everything, but other aspects are untouched. If you’ve been blasting through one of this year’s best roguelikes and are already past that point, you can use the new ‘Returning to a Real Possibility’ cauldron incantation to re-experience past events, including the finale.
Also very welcome is faster progression for several key events in the Fated List of Minor Prophecies, some of which are connected to the epilogue. The Kudos cost of many decorative items in the Crossroads has been dropped, and you’ll be refunded the difference for those you’ve already bought. Some of the requirements for cauldron incantations to appear have been lowered, and the Music Maker gets the Primordial Chaos theme as an extra option.
There are quite a few buffs to boons, blessings, and upgrades, including some that weren’t present in the first iteration of this patch. In particular, you’ll have a much easier time grabbing those elusive duo boons; the Favor boon from Chaos now increases the chance they’ll show up, as does the Yarn of Ariadne that you can buy from the Well of Charon. Given how transformative they can be to your Hades 2 builds, that’s excellent news.
Another change I’m very thankful for is the ability to turn off the persistent ‘danger pulse’ flashes when you’re at low life. While it’s good to know when you’re in trouble, it can become more of a frustrating distraction than a helpful alert if you don’t have a way to heal up fast. There’s also the ability to limit your maximum fps when playing with VSync turned off.
Hades 2 patch 1 is live now. You can check the full details courtesy of Supergiant Games; just be warned that, while some spoiler tags have been applied, you might see some things you haven’t encountered yet in your playthrough.
