LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Nebraska man was arrested Thursday night after an “in-air” disturbance on a flight from Omaha, police say.
Around 6 p.m., the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Police Department was sent to the Eastern Iowa Airport due to a disturbance by 23-year-old Mario Nikprelaj of Nebraska.
The flight departed from Eppley Airfield in Omaha and was heading to the Detroit Metro Airport in Michigan, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
CNN reports that the passenger tried to open the emergency exit, leading the plane to land at the airport in Cedar Rapids.
When the plane landed, Nikprelaj was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, assault, tax stamp and first-degree harassment.
Police said Nikprelaj could face additional charges as the investigation continues.
