NBCUniversal & Major League Baseball Near 3-Year, $600 Million Deal

NBCUniversal is nearing a three-year deal with Major League Baseball worth close to $200 million a year to carry games on NBC and Peacock, Deadline has confirmed, amid a flurry of activity around the MLB.

Negotiations are ongoing so the number could change, but the agreement, if signed and sealed, would include Wild Card playoff games and Peacock games on Sunday mornings. It would give the NBC broadcast network a full slate of Sunday sports with Sunday Night Football, Sunday Night Basketball and Sunday Night Baseball. Peacock’s share of games would come with the streamer doubling down on sports to drive subscriber growth and retention as Comcast prepares to split in half.

The Wall Street Journal first reported details of the talks Thursday.

WSJ also said Netflix is near its own deal for baseball’s Home Run Derby summer event through 2028 in a pact worth more than $35 million a year, with the giant streamer continuing its carefully curated move into live sports.

Comcast and Netflix both declined comment.

Meanwhile, the WSJ said, Disney‘s ESPN is looking to incorporate the league’s MLB.TV streaming service into ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer streaming offering unveiled today. It cited sources familiar.

Yahoo Sports had reported earlier that MLB was in advanced talks with the three media companies.

ESPN’s latest deal called for an outlay to the league of $550 million a year from 2026-2028 to air 30 regular-season games a season as well as the Home Run Derby and Wild Card playoff round, but the partners agreed to end the agreement after the 2025 season, the WSJ said.

ESPN is rolling out its new streaming app September 3.
