Natick cancels all outdoor activities after dusk amid high risk of West Nile virus

The Natick Board of Health announced Friday that all outdoor activities in town will end by 7:00 p.m., due to an elevated risk level to West Nile virus.

The state Department of Public Health confirmed four cases of West Nile virus, and increased risk levels for Natick, Ashland, Framingham, Marlborough, Sherborn, Southborough, Sudbury, and Wayland.

The statement advised residents to limit all outdoor activities during peak mosquito hours, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., apply insect repellent, and wear long clothes.

Precautions will remain in place until further notice, the statement said.

The Natick High School football game, originally scheduled for Friday night, instead will be held on Saturday morning, WBZ-TV reported.
