Powerful winds swept across the New Jersey coastline on Sunday as a nor’easter battered the state.

As of Sunday afternoon, Sea Isle City recorded the highest wind gust of 59 miles per hour at 9:30 a.m., creating hazardous conditions for residents and travelers along the shore.

The Cape May County region experienced the most intense wind activity, with multiple locations reporting wind speeds over 50 miles per hour.

Avalon saw gusts of 54 mph, while Cape May Harbor and Ocean City both recorded 51 mph winds.

Ocean County also faced significant wind challenges, with Rutgers reporting a 52 mph gust and Harvey Cedars experiencing 51 mph winds.

Other coastal areas were not spared, with Atlantic City, Sea Bright, and Tuckerton all reporting wind speeds of 50 mph or higher throughout the day.

The sustained high winds prompted local authorities to issue wind advisories and caution residents about potential property damage and dangerous driving conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued high wind warnings that run through 6 a.m. Monday and coastal flood warnings that extend to 8 p.m. Monday.

  • Cape May Harbor – 51 mph at 8:27 a.m.
  • Ocean City – 51 mph at 9:07 a.m.
  • Stone Harbor – 42 mph at 11:30 a.m.

Cumberland County

  • Greenwich – 41 mph at 3:21 p.m.

Monmouth County

  • Sea Bright – 50 mph at 3:37 p.m.
  • Sea Girt – 43 mph at 7:20 a.m.
  • Lake Como – 43 mph at 7:00 a.m.
  • Monmouth – 41 mph at 3:28 p.m.

Ocean County

  • Harvey Cedars – 51 mph at 10:50 a.m.
  • Tuckerton – 50 mph at 2:15 p.m.
  • Seaside Heights – 47 mph at 11:00 a.m.
