A powerful nor’easter hitting New Jersey with high winds and heavy rain has triggered thousands of power outages Sunday morning.

The worst of the fierce storm is expected later Sunday into Monday morning with wind gusts up to 60 mph near the Jersey and the potential for major coastal flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued multiple warnings for the region, including high wind warnings and coastal flood warnings.

Earlier Sunday, more than 7,000 homes and businesses were without power, but that number has dropped since.

Utility Outages as of 11:25 a.m.:

  • JCP&L: 3,877 outages
  • PSE&G: 30 outages
  • Atlantic City Electric: 0 outages
  • Rockland Electric: 0 outages
