Fighting game tournaments are terrifyingly competitive. Every input matters, as players who have mastered their game of choice use everything at their disposal to take down opponents – and make the most of their mistakes. It’s stressful enough, so how this one player in Florida managed to win her local tournament is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
As reported by Dexerto, Mortal Kombat XL player Legi0n bagged the top prize last weekend… while holding her five-day-old daughter in her arms. Yes, five days on. As in, she delivered her baby through C-section, and then five days later, she was at the tournament. Incredible.

“I only won because she coached me mid set,” says Legi0n, celebrating her win on social media. “I’m still recovering from a brutal c-section that almost resulted in a rupture (but went well because my surgeons are goated). Glad that I left the house and it gave us a small idea of how to gauge bringing our daughter to tournaments and travel. She was actually chill.”
Legi0n’s daughter, Cereza, certainly must have been chill. As we can see in images from the event, little Cereza was in her mother’s arms while she played Mortal Kombat XL, and yet Legi0n still took home the top prize at the local.
On her page, Legi0n is full of praise for her local fighting game scene, as she has a long history with the genre. As she explains in a longer post, she used to play Street Fighter 6, but stopped after the death of her eldest daughter, Alcina. On her page, Legi0n encourages others to donate to NORD (the National Organisation for Rare Disorders) in her memory. Her husband shared his support for the organisation too, alongside another image of Legi0n at the tournament.
The journey doesn’t end here. Legi0n is looking for another fighting game to get into, and hopes that Invincible Vs. is good enough to sink some time into. It also sounds like Cereza will be joining her parents on more of these trips, giving us one of the coolest sights in compeititve gaming history.
