More Sony First-Party Games Are Coming To Xbox And Switch

While Helldivers 2 is already confirmed for release on the Xbox Series X|S, it appears that Sony has more first-party games planned for release not just on Xbox, but also on Nintendo’s platform.

We’re not expecting Sony to rival Microsoft in terms of former exclusives going multi-platform, but this is a good sign that Sony is letting its hair down a bit, so to speak.

Given that most PlayStation first-party releases are already appearing on PC, this news is particularly significant for Xbox and Nintendo fans, as their platforms may soon be home to PlayStation first-party games as well.

Job Listing Signals PlayStation To Release More Games on Competing Platforms

PlayStation Fans Are Scared About The PS6's Price

The news, although not official, is fairly reliable given it comes from a Sony job listing.

The company is looking for a Senior Director for Multiplatform & Account Management, which mentions, “Reporting to the Vice President, Commercial Management as Senior Director of Multiplatform & Account Management, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping and executing the global commercial strategy for PlayStation Studios software titles across all digital platforms beyond PlayStation hardware, including Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, Nintendo, and mobile. This role is accountable for optimizing title profitability, ensuring cross-functional alignment, and leading a high-performing team focused on multiplatform expansion, mid-range commercial planning, and platform partner management.”

While the job listing doesn’t hint at which PlayStation games are headed to Xbox, Nintendo platforms, the fact that Sony is looking to push for it is huge news.

Of course, the chances of a PlayStation first-party game releasing day-and-date simultaneously with its PlayStation brethren are very unlikely, but if Xbox and Nintendo gamers even have to wait a year to play Sony’s excellent first-party games, I’d assume they’d be very happy with that.

While Sony has been quite active in releasing its first-party games on PC, the company hasn’t been as generous when it comes to other consoles. Helldivers 2 marks the first game to debut on an Xbox device, while Nintendo saw LEGO Horizon Adventures drop for the Switch last year.

Given how Xbox is slowly transitioning to become a third-party publisher, perhaps Sony saw how much money they’re leaving on the table by not doing the same thing? At the very least, gamers are the clear winners here.
