A Montgomery charter school is closed for the rest of the week due to an outbreak of illness.
Life Academy says the outbreak involves hand, foot and mouth disease.
While the school is closed, leaders say it will undergo a deep cleaning and sanitization. It is hoped the school will reopen Monday, September 29.
Students will be on remote learning until then.
Hand, foot and mouth disease is contagious, with fever, rash, sore throat, mouth ulcers and loss of appetite as some of the common symptoms.
Life Academy is located at the City of St. Jude on West Fairview Avenue and serves grades K-8.
