Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather Agree to Exhibition Fight, Sign Contracts for 2026 Bout

Two boxing legends reportedly plan to meet in the ring next year.

Per TMZ Sports’ Michael Babock, Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather will fight in an exhibition match next spring. Babock added that the two have already signed contracts for the fight.

Tyson later confirmed the news:

According to TMZ, the fight will be put on by CSI Sports/Fight Sports. It will be the first time the two legends have ever met in the ring.

“This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen,” Tyson told TMZ. “However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable — and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets.

“I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this. It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!”

Tyson, 59, retired from professional boxing in 2005, but returned to the ring last November for a fight against Jake Paul. Things didn’t go well for Tyson against the much-younger Paul, as he lost in a unanimous decision.

The fight between Tyson and Mayweather will presumably be a better matchup since Mayweather, 48, is much closer in age to Tyson and Paul was.

Mayweather has not fought since 2017 when he defeated Conor McGregor to improve to 50-0. He won’t put that perfect record on the line against Tyson since the fight is an exhibition, but he still thinks the bout will be “legendary.”

“I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” Mayweather said. “You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”

While fans likely would have preferred to see Tyson and Mayweather go at it in their primes, the two finally getting in the ring together should be exciting.
