
Over the weekend, there was a lot of rumour and speculation that both Target and Walmart might be pulling their Xbox products, with one particular Reddit post getting a bunch of attention after it was suggested that someone’s local Target store had been “getting rid” of their Xbox section.
Here’s a look at the post that primarily sparked it all it off:
Following this, various outlets started reporting on the post and it snowballed into something that attracted a lot of social media interest. However, the likes of Destin Legarie and even former Xbox employee Major Nelson advised that they couldn’t see anything about Target and Walmart pulling their Xbox stock at first glance.
In fact, Destin called both Walmart and Target and was advised the following:
And finally, just a few hours ago, Microsoft decided to provide an official statement to Windows Central based on their report of the situation, clarifying that both Target and Walmart “remain committed partners” for Xbox products.
Here’s the statement in full from Microsoft:
“Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Microsoft reply to rumours this month, with another statement being shared back on October 6th denying that the next Xbox console was being cancelled.
