US President Donald Trump says he’s been briefed after at least one person died and nine others were injured in a shooting and fire at a Mormon church in Michigan, according to local police.

Officials say the suspect – a 40-year-old man – drove his vehicle into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, before “deliberately” setting the building on fire.

Police say there’s no threat to the public and the fire has been contained, after the suspect was later killed in an exchange of fire with officers.

We don’t yet know the motive for the attack on the church, but Trump has called it “yet another targeted attack on Christians” in the US.

The local Grand Blanc police force says 100 FBI agents have been deployed to help with the investigation.

We’re expecting a further update from officials later – until then, we’ll keep you up to speed with all the key details on this developing story.
