After launching its next-gen series, Meta is now testing out the option to trade in a previous model for a new pair of Ray-Ban or Oakley smart glasses.
Earlier this year Meta released a second-generation pair of Ray-Ban smart glasses as well as introducing a second, sports-focused model of its Oakley smart glasses. The upgraded Ray-Bans bring better video quality, longer battery life, and more in the same styles, but at a higher price tag.
Meta is now testing a trade-in program for Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses to get a discount on a new model. The program accepts both older smart glasses generations from Meta as well as, interestingly enough, earbuds. Users on Reddit first spotted the trade-in program at checkout on Meta’s store, though it doesn’t appear for everyone. The credits go over $100 for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 glasses, but appears to change depending on your device or even your browser as Android Central found.
A terms and conditions page from Meta explains that the trade-in program test is only running through December 31 and valid with Ray-Ben Meta Gen 1, Gen 2, Oakley HSTN, and Oakley Vanguard smart glasses.
The following devices can be traded:
- Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1)
- Apple Airpods Pro 2
- Apple Airpods Pro
- Apple Airpods Pro 4
- Beats Powerbeats Pro 2
- Beats Studio Buds +
- Beats Fit Pro
- Samsung Galaxy Buds3
- Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro
- Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE
