Meghan McCain — who famously repeatedly reminded The View audience during her tenure that she was the daughter of Sen. John McCain — has slammed nepo baby behavior in response to Violet Affleck’s recent United Nations address.
In a since-deleted X post (screengrab below), McCain targeted the 19-year-old daughter of actors (and former couple) Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner over a speech the teen made to the UN on Tuesday in New York City.
“Every single thing about all of this is why people hate nepo babies so much,” McCain, 40, wrote in the post, which was only public for a matter of minutes before the former View cohost and conservative political commentator took it down.

McCain — who lists “nepo baby” in her X bio — continued, saying that she felt Violet “has no business speaking at the UN,” adding that “what she is speaking about is patently absurd.”
Violet, currently a freshman at Yale, spoke about the importance of masking and clean air initiatives aimed at preventing cases of long COVID, per PEOPLE.
“We are told by leaders across the board that we are the future,” Violet said in her address, which she gave while wearing an N95 mask. “But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.”
Violet also cited research and medical professionals in her speech, telling the UN that, “as Dr. Akiko Iwasaki says, at this point, the whole population is the control group, and after only five years, long COVID has surpassed asthma as the most common chronic illness in children five years and under.”
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for McCain and Violet’s parents for comment.
McCain has long complained about public figures in Hollywood, ranging from Bradley Cooper and his Maestro movie to an alleged experience with Jennifer Lopez on the set of The View.
McCain has repeatedly criticized her former View cohosts as well, including in an incendiary December 2023 remark in which she called them “crazy old people” who bully and abuse her.

“I just didn’t know that when I signed to do this show that I have to deal with these crazy old people just yelling about me all of the time,” she said at the time. “I go whole swaths of time without thinking about them — whole months without thinking about the show or anything. Apparently, I’m just on their minds every day. And it’s pathetic.”

McCain has repeatedly brought up her former workplace on her public platform, including in a March 2025 criticism of Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former Donald Trump associate who replaced McCain in The View‘s conservative seat at the Hot Topics table.
“How anyone thinks you represent any Republican woman in America is beyond me,” McCain wrote on X in response to Griffin’s public criticism of Tulsi Gabbard, one of McCain’s friends.
