Some McDonald’s customers will soon get a bit of a break on their next combo meal purchase as part of the fast-food giant’s latest campaign. On Tuesday, the global chain restaurant announced it is bringing back Extra Value Meals as a way to lower costs for customers.
The Extra Value Meals will feature a main dish, fries and a drink for approximately 15% less than if the items are ordered individually. McDonald’s says the following Extra Value Meals will be offered at restaurants nationwide starting Sept. 8:
- Sausage McMuffin with Egg
- Sausage Egg & Cheese McGriddles
- Egg McMuffin
- Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit
- Big Mac
- 10-piece Chicken McNuggets
- Any variety Quarter Pounder burger (Original, Bacon, or Deluxe)
- Any variety McCrispy Sandwich (Original, Deluxe, or Spicy Deluxe)
“McDonald’s USA is laser-focused on delivering value and affordability for our customers, and I’m incredibly proud of how our franchisees and teams continue to step up to make it a reality,” said Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA. “From the $5 Meal Deal to McValue and now Extra Value Meals, we’re sending a clear message: we’re here for our customers. McDonald’s will always be a place where you can get the food you love at a price that fits your life.”
To coincide with the return of the Extra Value Meals, McDonald’s is also offering a $5 Sausage McMuffin with Egg meal, which includes a hash brown and medium coffee and an $8 Big Mac meal, which comes with a medium drink and medium fries.
McDonald’s says more Extra Value Meals will be coming to the menu in the coming weeks and months.
The moves come after CEO Chris Kempczinski admitted in a conference call last month that the company’s prices were driving away customers. By bringing back value meals, McDonald’s thinks customers will again see the value in the restaurant.
“The single biggest driver of what shapes a consumer’s overall perception of McDonald’s value is the menu board,” Kempczinski said in the August 6 earnings call.
McDonald’s did not announce price drops for individual items, but will continue to offer other deals in its app.
