The Buffalo Bills have battled through a slew of injuries in the early going of training camp, with 11 players missing Monday’s session at St. John Fisher University. On Tuesday, first-round cornerback Maxwell Hairston was added to the list of the walking wounded after appearing to suffer a non-contact injury to his right knee.
Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by examining the latest on Hairston’s knee injury and offering up other observations from Day 6 of Bills training camp.
Rookie CB Maxwell Hairston departs practice
During Tuesday’s practice, rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston, who the Bills took with the No. 30 overall selection out of Kentucky in the 2025 NFL Draft, appeared to injure his right knee and left the session after being examined by Buffalo’s training staff.
Day 6 observations from Bills training camp
Among the standouts from Tuesday’s session: edge rusher Joey Bosa began to flash his pass-rushing potential; veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White was dominant and made a few big plays in Hairston’s absence; tight end Dalton Kincaid struggled in his return to practice after sitting out Monday’s session; undrafted rookie free agent wideout Stephen Gosnell made the most of his opportunities; linebacker Matt Milano was all over the practice field; Mitchell Trubisky outplayed Mike White in the battle to be the backup QB; and more!
Sean McDermott embraces hitting during first padded practice
Leading up to Buffalo’s first padded practice at training camp, Bills head coach Sean McDermott said he wanted “to see nasty, physical football, but I don’t want to see disrespect for a man’s career and dirty football. … That’s not how we play in Buffalo. So, we painted a pretty clear picture this morning of what that looks like for the new players in particular. So that nastiness has to be developed here, but it can’t be at the expense of someone’s career. So clean, but physical.”
