Actor David Del Rio, who stars on the CBS legal drama “Matlock,” has been fired from the show following an investigation into whether he sexually harassed one of his co-stars.
The incident happened on Sept. 26, according to Deadline, and involved his co-star Leah Lewis.
The incident was reported on Oct. 2 and triggered an immediate investigation by the show’s producers and CBS Studios. Following the investigation, Del Rio was fired and escorted off the Paramount lot the same day the incident was reported.
In a since-expired post on Instagram Stories, Lewis shared a photo of her with her mom and thanked fans for their support.
“Mom is here, we’re moving forward in love and strength. I’m in good hands,” she wrote. “Thank you to everybody for any kind of support and care. Truly, we’re moving forward in strength. Key word, strength. Please, let that be the takeaway.”
Deadline also reported that Del Rio’s wife, actress Katherine Del Rio, posted and then deleted a photo on her Instagram Stories account that seemed to mimic Lewis’ post.
“Mom is here,” it read. “We’re moving forward in love and strength after what Leah did to our family. Thank you all for the love and support!”
Season two of “Matlock,” which stars Kathy Bates, is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 12. The show is planned to go on a hiatus next week after it wrapped up filming the first half of that season.
Del Río played Billy Martínez on the show while Lewis plays Sarah Franklin.
