The Hunting Wives stars Malin Akerman, Katie Lowes, Brittany Snow and Jaime Ray Newman are loving Saturday Night Live‘s spoof of the hit Netflix series.
Akerman, who plays Margo Banks, posted the sketch on her Instagram, writing “Omg @nbcsnl this is the best thing I’ve ever seen!!! 😂 Hunting wives Season 2 premiere (?!) Yessssss!!!!!”
Amy Poehler, who assumed the role of Akerman’s Margo in the spoof, was introduced by flashing topless to Chloe Fineman, who played Brittany Snow’s Sophie, a reference to the characters’ first encounter on The Hunting Wives. SNL also gave a shout out to the infamous wigs Ackerman’s Margo is seen wearing in the series, saying that wigs “are doing their best” on the show as Poehler is seen adjusting hers.
Newman, who portrays Callie on the show, posted the spoof on her Instagram stories, writing “SNL?!?!? Mind officially BLOWN @thehuntingwives @nbcsnl”
Lowes posted a video of herself alongside Åkerman and Newman watching the SNL sketch on a phone, backstage during the 35th EMA Awards Gala in Studio City. “HUNTING WIVES ON @nbcsnl!! We were DYING. Love you”, Lowes wrote. Snow replied to Lowes post, adding one of the sketch’s most memorable lines, “It’s just us and the beans baby! 😂”
May Cobb, author of The Hunting Wives novel, posted the spoof on her Instagram, along with Deadline’s recap of the spoof.
The sketch was capped off with a surprise appearance by Aubrey Plaza “new new girl who joins the group,” having just moved from California. The women pull out their rifles when Plaza tells them she a lesbian.
