M5 Macs: Here are the new Mac models reportedly coming next

Apple’s first M5 Mac, the 14-inch MacBook Pro, debuted last month. But several more M5 Macs are in the works, and a new report outlines which models to expect next in the coming year.

At least four M5 Mac models coming in 2026

Over the weekend in his Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman outlined many of Apple’s product plans for 2026.

After highlighting products launching early in the year like a new iPhone 17e and M4 iPad Air, Gurman writes:

There also should be an M5 version of the MacBook Air, as well as MacBook Pros with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, and new Mac monitors.

Then later, when rounding out his overview of 2026 products, he adds:

In terms of other Macs coming next year, you can expect an M5 upgrade to the Mac mini and Mac Studio.

To summarize, Apple is planning to launch the following M5 models:

• MacBook Air
• MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max
• Mac mini
• Mac Studio

Based on how Gurman divides M5 products in his writing, it’s possible that only the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro will arrive early in the year, with the Mac mini and Mac Studio coming later.

However, it still seems very possible Apple will roll out the Mac mini and Mac Studio around the same time as its other products.

Since new Mac displays are coming early in the year, that seems like an ideal time to launch two products—Mac mini and Mac Studio—that perfectly complement such displays.

Also, the M5 Pro and M5 Max being readily available for new MacBook Pro models means Apple could, theoretically, add it pretty easily to the Mac mini and Studio too. Especially since neither desktop Mac is expected to get a hardware redesign in the M5 generation.

In any case, the iMac is curiously absent from Gurman’s report. That might mean Apple plans to hold off updating the iMac until M6 is available. More likely though, Gurman simply hasn’t seen evidence of an M5 iMac coming, but it could still be in Apple’s plans.
