Luke Rockhold releases first statement after vicious knockout loss to Darren Till at Misfits Boxing 22

Luke Rockhold says it’s all respect for Darren Till after their boxing match, and chaotic fight week.

Rockhold faced Till in the main event of Misfits Boxing 22 on Saturday at AO Arena in Manchester, England. After being dropped multiple times over the first two rounds, Rockhold was on the receiving end of a brutal left hand that left the former UFC and Strikeforce champion out cold, and his body in an oddly contorted position against the ropes.

Following the event, Rockhold released his first statement on Instagram in a photo sharing a beer with his opponent in the aftermath.

“Shit happens, it’s all love [Darren Till],” Rockhold wrote. “All the best to you brother.”

The build to the fight throughout the week was wild, to say the least. At every faceoff, press conference, or weigh-in involving the two fighters, a brawl nearly broke out between Till and Rockhold.

The fight began in a competitive way, with Rockhold building an early lead in Round 1 — until the final seconds where Till knocked Rockhold down to the canvas to steal the round. Till’s momentum built through the second, until the big knockout blow ended the night in Round 3.

Till is now 3-0 in the Misfits Boxing ring, while Rockhold just has one win over the past nine years, which took place in Karate Combat.
