Live Updates: No. 10 South Carolina vs South Carolina St

South Carolina football returns to Williams-Brice Stadium as the Gamecocks host in-state South Carolina State. Kickoff between the Gamecocks and the Bulldogs is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET, with the game streaming live on SEC Network+ and ESPN+.

South Carolina enters Saturday’s contest 1-0 following a 24-11 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies in the Aflac Kickoff Game. The Bulldogs also enter 1-0, coming off a 16-15 win over fellow FCS school Wofford.

Williams-Brice Stadium entered a lightning delay at 5:27 ET and remains under delay. Saturday’s game will kick off at 9:21 PM ET.

Associate AD of Communications and Public Relations Steve Fink posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the warmups will start 30 minutes after the last lightning strike. The kickoff will occur 30 minutes after that.

First Quarter

South Carolina: 0 SC State: 0 [10:55]: The Bulldogs converted a 25-yard gain on third down, but struggled to move the ball after that, punting from the SC 47. The Gamecock offense proceeded to go three-and-out after getting the ball.

South Carolina: 0 SC State: 3 [1:33]: South Carolina went three-and-out for the second straight time, leading to the Bulldogs taking over at the SCST 43. After a third-down conversion moved the ball into the redzone, the Bulldogs worked down to the SC 3 before kicking a field goal.

Second Quarter

South Carolina: 7 SC State: 3 [5:01]: After another Bulldog scoring threat stalled out, Vicari Swain made his second punt return touchdown to give the Gamecocks their first lead.

South Carolina 14: SC State: 3 [3:07]: Swain returned his second straight punt for a touchdown after a block by David Bucey. The SC State drive before went three plays for -2 yards.

South Carolina: 17 SC State: 3 [0:00]: After quickly moving the ball across the 50 on a 25-yard pass from LaNorris Sellers to Nyck Harbor, the Gamecock drive slowed down as halftime approached. In the end, William Joyce hit a 49-yard field goal on 4th and 4 to end the half.

Third Quarter

South Carolina 24 SC State 3 [11:21]: Oscar Adaway III muscled his way into the endzone to cap an eight-play, 68-yard drive to begin the second half. The Gamecocks were set up in the redzone after a pass interference call moved the Gamecocks to the 30. LaNorris Sellers then rushed 16 yards to put the Gamecocks at the five-yard line.

South Carolina: 31 SC State: 3 [6:02]: After a South Carolina three-and-out, Jaron Willis returned a Mason Hicks-Pickett fumble, forced by Bryan Thomas Jr., 41 yards to the endzone.

South Carolina: 38 SC State: 3 [2:25]: After picking up a fourth down conversion, Sellers connected on a 35-yard pass to Vandrevius Jacobs to cap off the Gamecocks’ five-play drive.

Fourth Quarter

South Carolina: 38 SC State: 10 [12:29]: The Bulldogs opened the final quarter finishing their drive that ended the third, going 11 plays to break South Carolina’s seven-quarter streak without allowing a touchdown.
