Lions News: Amon-Ra St. Brown thinks Packers are in ‘win-now’ mode

Of course every NFL team wants to win every time they step on the field, but it’s a whole different thing when a franchise lays it all out on the table and puts their eggs all in one basket.

That’s what Amon-Ra St. Brown says the Green Bay Packers are doing this season after their blockbuster trade for star defensive end Micah Parsons.

“It seems like they made a splash play — they want to win now,” the Detroit Lions wide receiver said on the latest episode of the St. Brown Podcast.

In a move that rocked the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys traded four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Lions NFC North rival last week. In exchange, Dallas received three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round draft picks (one in 2026 and 2027).

“That move screams ‘we want to win this year,’” St. Brown said. “It’s a splash move that you could say like damn, the Packers ain’t f***ing around. They want to win now.”

In the episode, he reflected on the moment he found out about the trade last week. He says he put his phone on Do Not Disturb and took a nap only to wake up to a flurry of messages, including one from a former college roommate and Packers fan, who sent only an emoji of cheese, and some stressful messages in his group chat with the Lions running backs.

“They’re like, ‘F***, Micah’s in Green Bay,’” he said, putting his hands over his face.

But glass half full — the group chat was at least happy to be done dealing with Clark, who was sent to the Cowboys as part of the trade.

“(He) was low-key a problem in the middle,” St. Brown said. “Great player. Cowboys got a great player. You trade one, you get the other. You get a crazy pass rusher who’s just a freak. You got Kenny, who was really good, I mean one of the best tackles in the game. So you give and you take. The middle might be a little juicer for us as an offense, but it just makes the edges even tougher.”

What do you think? Are the Packers in win-now mode?
