Lil Nas X jailed after allegedly charging at police, briefly hospitalized for possible overdose in Los Angeles

Lil Nas X was reportedly arrested and briefly hospitalized for a possible overdose after he allegedly charged at police officers in Los Angeles early Thursday morning.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports of a naked man walking along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City at around 6 a.m. local time on Thursday. TMZ released a video of him roaming the same street early that morning. The video shows Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, in his underwear and cowboy boots as he incoherently speaks to the person recording the video on their phone.

A man accused of assault was reportedly “nude in the street” and went on to “batter an officer, so he was booked for battery on a [peace officer],” a spokesperson for the LAPD told People.

“Upon arrival, the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer,” LAPD public information officer Charles Miller told CNN.

According to multiple outlets, including the Associated Press, police first took him to a hospital, suspecting that he may be suffering from a drug overdose, but he was later transferred to a jail in Van Nuys, where he was booked on the misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.

A representative for Lil Nas X did not immediately respond to Yahoo’s request for comment.

Ahead of the incident, the 26-year-old made a slew of Instagram posts. On Wednesday, the rapper posted mirror selfies as well as photos of piles of his belongings and his art. Some of the posts featured music, which appeared to be unreleased Lil Nas X songs.
