Here’s an odd one. The LEGO Game Boy set has an official release date of October 1, but Amazon is already shipping it out to everyone who preordered. It’s not even called a preorder anymore on the listing, it’s just available now – see for yourself. It can be delivered tomorrow if you order it today. That sure seems to be what they call “breaking the street date.” Not that I’m complaining. If you want to get a LEGO Game Boy set early, you can order one now. I’ve also seen reports that they’re on shelves at Costco, so you can check there, too.
The LEGO Game Boy Is Now Available at Amazon
This LEGO Game Boy set has been the most popular item of the year for the IGN commerce team. It’s easy to see why, too. It’s relatively inexpensive (LEGO sets get way more expensive), it re-creates a beloved gaming device at a 1:1 size scale, and it just looks awesome.
It’s designed to be displayed rather than played with, as is hinted by its 18+ age recommendation. It comes with a stand and numerous lenticular screens that make it look like the image is moving when you look at it from drifferent angles. It comes with two Game Pak cartridges: Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and you can swap in lenticular screens for each, or for the Nintendo start screen.
In any case, if you enjoy the idea of getting awesome items in your hands before you’re “supposed to” have them, this set is worth picking up. Then you can bask in the knowledge that you have something many other people want, but they can’t have it until October 1.
@ign_deals We got our hands on the new LEGO Game Boy set and it’s an absolute delight. It’s filled with great details and is a breeze to put together, with just 421 pieces. And three of those are screens. What do you think? Is this retro inspired LEGO set worth it? #lego #nintendo #gameboy #retro #gaming ♬ original sound – IGNDeals
If you like this set, it’s worth mentioning that it’s one of many LEGO Nintendo sets available. And if you want to see more recent LEGO sets, check out all the September 2025 LEGO releases below.
