The singer said she was pausing her shows to be “fully present” for her family at this time
Kelly Clarkson is postponing her Studio Sessions residency in Las Vegas to be with her family amid her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s illness.
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” the singer and daytime talk show host wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
Clarkson addressed fans who had planned to attend her upcoming performances, writing, “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Blackstock and Clarkson married in 2013 and had two children: a daughter born in 2014 and a son born in 2016. Blackstock previously served as Clarkson’s manager, an arrangement that’s caused legal turmoil following the end of their relationship. Clarkson filed for divorce from the music manager in 2020, which was finalized two years later.
Last month, the Grammy winner postponed her Las Vegas residency July 4 and 5 dates hours before its first show as the singer revealed that preparing for the concerts had “taken a toll on my voice.” At the time, she said in a statement, “I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.” She added, “The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”
