Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau thought they were going to keep their reported romance under wraps, but some arm ink gave them away.
The 40-year-old pop star and the 53-year-old former Canadian prime minister were spotted this week on a yacht adventure off the coast of Santa Barbara, California. The Mail on Sunday published snapshots of the duo in the middle of a steamy make-out session. They were on board Perry’s yacht, the Caravelle — she wore a sleek, black one-piece, and Trudeau was shirtless with a pair of jeans on.

An eyewitness from a whale-watching boat caught the duo in an embrace, realizing who they were looking at once she saw Trudeau’s tattoo.
“She pulled up her boat next to a small public whale-watching boat, then they started making out. I didn’t realize who she was with until I saw the tattoo on the guy’s arm, and I immediately realized it was Justin Trudeau,” they shared with the U.K. outlet.
Trudeau’s left arm ink is a combination of two tattoos, which he tweeted about in March 2012. “My tattoo is planet Earth inside a Haida raven. The globe I got when I was 23; the Robert Davidson raven for my 40th birthday,” he wrote on X. Trudeau’s father, Pierre, was made an honorary member of the Haida tribe in 1976 during his tenure as prime minister, per the BBC.
The yacht sighting also officially confirmed Perry and Trudeau’s unlikely romance. They were first spotted together by TMZ in late July, enjoying a date in Montreal. Two days later, on July 30, he attended Perry’s Lifetimes Tour show with his daughter, Ella-Grace.
By August, sources were downplaying the flirtation to People. “They had a casual first get-to-know-you date. And although they have shared interests and plenty to talk about, dating just isn’t on her radar,” a Perry insider explained. “She’s stayed in touch with Justin, but there are no current plans for another meet-up.”
But Us Weekly‘s sources countered that claim with the fact that they are together, but “decided to be much more private about it.” Now, fans know that Perry and Trudeau are definitely an item in that very hot-and-heavy stage of a relationship.
