Katy Perry had quite the fright when she nearly fell midair into the crowd while performing atop a giant butterfly prop.
The close call occurred July 18 at Chase Center in San Francisco, one of Perry’s stops on her “Lifetimes Tour.” During part of the show, Perry climbs atop the prop to sing her 2013 motivational song “Roar.”
But on July 18, right when she was about to sing the chorus, the prop seemingly malfunctioned, tilted forward and abruptly dropped several feet while Perry held on tight.
When the prop appeared to be moving correctly again, Perry took a second to steady herself before she resumed singing to the crowd.
The frightful moment was captured by fans and has since been shared on X.
On her Instagram story, Perry seemingly joked about the moment by sharing a close-up photo of her looking terrified as the prop fell. Over the picture, she wrote, “Goodnight San Fran.” Representatives for Perry did not immediately respond to NBC News’ request for comment.
Beyoncé also recently experienced technical difficulties with a flying prop when she performed in her hometown of Houston, Texas, on June 28.
During the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer’s concert, she sang atop a prop car suspended in the air. Normally, the car flies over the crowd as she sings “16 Carriages,” but during the Houston show, the car began tilting to the side, putting Beyoncé in an scary position.
Beyoncé eventually paused the song so she could be lowered to the ground.
Once there, she finished her performance on solid ground as the crowd continued cheering for her.
“I want to thank y’all for loving me,” she told the audience. “If ever I fall, I know y’all would catch me.”
Beyoncé’s company Parkwood Entertainment later released a statement and said the car tilted due to a “technical mishap.”
“She was quickly lowered and no one was injured,” the statement read.
