- Katie Holmes and her lookalike daughter Suri Cruise looked more like sisters than mother and daughter on the set of Holmes’s film Happy Hours on August 7 in New York City.
- Holmes is currently filming the movie alongside her former Dawson’s Creek co-star Joshua Jackson.
- Cruise is due to head back to Pittsburgh and her sophomore year at Carnegie Mellon University sometime this month.
Looking more like sisters than mother and daughter, Suri Cruise joined mom Katie Holmes when the latter was on set for her upcoming film Happy Hours, which Holmes is starring in alongside fellow Dawson’s Creek alum Joshua Jackson.
For Cruise’s visit to set on August 7 in New York City, the 19-year-old wore a white camisole, olive green cargo pants, a brown belt, and red sneakers. Holmes—holding a script in her hand—appeared to be dressed for her role in the project, wearing a blue patterned bathrobe, jeans, and sneakers, her hair in a messy updo and carrying a brown leather tote.

Holmes and Jackson’s characters dated on Dawson’s Creek (Joey and Pacey, respectively) and the two dated in real life, as well, becoming a couple in 1998. (The relationship ended after about a year.) “I am so very grateful to be working again with so many wonderful friends on this film, Happy Hours,” Holmes recently wrote on Instagram. “And working with Josh after so many years is a testament to friendship.” Dawson’s Creek wrapped in 2003.

Cruise, for her part—who goes by Suri Noelle at school—will soon be heading to Pittsburgh for her sophomore year at Carnegie Mellon University, where The Daily Mail reported she is “leaning towards” studying fashion. The daughter of Holmes and Tom Cruise—who married in 2006 and split in 2012—“is a smart girl, and she is turning into a very intelligent, mature young woman,” a source told the outlet. “She has a very close group of loyal friends, and she knows exactly where she comes from.”
Cruise has collaborated with her mother on Holmes’s projects in the past, like appearing on the soundtrack of Holmes’s films Alone Together and Rare Objects. “She always does something on my films,” Holmes told Glamour in 2023. “I always ask her.”

“But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people,” Holmes continued. “And it’s this safe, beautiful, creative space. So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly. That’s how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she’s my heart.”
Holmes told Yahoo! Entertainment, “Well, I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her.” She added, “She’s very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing.”
When Cruise left for college, Holmes told Town & Country, “I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy.”

“I remember being this age, this time of beginnings,” she added. “It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.” Of becoming an empty nester, Holmes said, “Every day, kids get a little further away from you. That’s a positive thing. They should be becoming more independent, but it’s heartbreaking.”
“You want them to stay with you forever, but they’re these amazing beings, and you have to do everything you can to give them what they need—and then they’re going to go,” Holmes added. “And that’s going to be very, very sad for me.”

“I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent,” Holmes previously told Glamour. “She’s an incredible person.”
Speaking to InStyle in 2020, Holmes said of Cruise, “I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality, to make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it.”

“She came out very strong—she’s always been a strong personality,” Holmes added.
