Kate Middleton Pulls Off Genius Hair Styling Hack Without Hair Tie

Kate Middleton is getting creative with her hair styling following a slew of transformations that saw the Princess go from brunette to blonde and back again earlier this week. Stepping out for a visit to two historic textile mills in Sudbury and Cuxton on Thursday, September 11, the royal met with local craftsmen whose families have been in the weaving business for hundreds of years. Middleton then proceeded to remove her jacket, roll up her sleeves, and get to work.

When it came to her hair, the Princess pulled off the rather impressive feat of twisting her long locks into a bun—without the help of a hair tie or hair clip.

As evidenced by the photos from her visit, Middleton was all smiles as she got a taste of manual labor in the mills. She even tried her hand at screen printing and was evidently quite good.

As for her outfit, the future Queen wore a tailored gray plaid suit, harkening back to the plaid ensemble she wore on Monday, September 8 at a royal engagement marking the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

The skirt suit came straight from designer Alessandra Rich’s 2021 collection, and featured a large check print in gray, black, white, and a touch of hot pink, according to fashion site What Kate Wore. Most notably, it appeared to contain a special hidden tribute to the late Queen. In the last photograph of the monarch, taken on September 6, 2022, the royal wore a skirt with an almost identical plaid pattern to Middleton’s.

“Of course, Catherine was respecting protocol considerations for the mourning period (because of the death of the Duchess of Kent) but, in addition, she chose a fabric which remembers one of the skirts that Queen Elizabeth wore for her last public appearance ever,” one eagle-eyed observer noted, per Hello. “A lovely way to remember Her Majesty.”
