The grande dame is walking free. After serving six months in prison for her 2024 DUI, Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger was released from the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville, Maryland, on Tuesday, per “Page Six.” In February, a Montgomery County judge had sentenced the 61-year-old to one year in prison; Huger was released six months ahead of schedule.
According to TMZ, Huger will not be allowed to operate a vehicle for another year following her release. The New York Times reported at the time of her sentencing that Huger was fined $2,900, was set to receive five years of supervised probation, and would be forced to install a Breathalyzer device in her car. It is unclear if these requirements have been amended now that the reality star is back on the town.
In March 2024, Huger was found guilty of driving under the influence, negligently driving a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, and failure to control speed. At the time, she was spotted driving her Maserati in an “aggressive manner” and crashed into a pole in Potomac, according to the Montgomery County Police Department. In body-cam footage shown to the jury — and later made public — the RHOP cast member referred to herself as Thomas Jefferson’s “concubine” and allegedly told a female firefighter she was “so beautiful.”
While Huger has been absent from filming the Bravo series’ tenth season, I have high hopes she’ll be returning to the show soon to tell us all how she’s doing. Andy Cohen, if you’re listening, we want Karen.
