K-Pop Demon Hunters becomes Netflix’s most watched animated movie ever

The views keep going up, up, up, it’s their moment! K-Pop Demon Hunters has become Netflix’s most-watched animated film in the platform’s history just over a month since its release.

K-Pop Demon Hunters released on June 20 and became an instant hit with Netflix users, following the members of idol group and demon hunters HUNTR/X as they battle rival supernatural boy-band the Saja Boys.

In the month since it launched on Netflix, the flick has taken over social media, with its original songs hitting the top of Billboard’s global music charts. In fact, the fictional pop groups have become some of the most-listened artists in the last few weeks, even beating out bands like BTS and BLACKPINK.

Now, the movie is taking home another accolade after Netflix confirmed that K-Pop Demon Hunters has become the most-viewed animated film on its platform.

HUNTER/X and the Saja Boys have become some of the world’s most listened-to groups since K-Pop Demon Hunters’ release in June.

K-Pop Demon Hunters is Netflix’s most-watched animated movie

The streamer dropped the news on July 29, 2025, just over a month after the flick made its debut.

Per Netflix’s own viewership data, K-Pop Demon Hunters has spent six weeks in the site’s Top 10 films, racking up a staggering 26,300,000 total views and 43,900,000 hours watched.

Other animated movies that previously topped the Netflix charts include titles like adorable creature feature ‘The Sea Beast’ and epic action-adventure film ‘The Monkey King.’

At the time of writing, only one other animated film shares the Netflix Top 10 — Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, which initially released in 2018 and was recently added to the streaming service.

K-Pop Demon Hunters’ success has given fans hope for a possible sequel. Even Netflix’s CEO, Ted Sarandos, praised the original movie in a statement to Deadline, saying, “One of the things that I’m excited, really proud of the team over, is [that it’s] original animation—not a sequel, not a live-action remake. Original animation… is very tough and has been struggling for years.”

“Getting it right matters. The storytelling matters. The innovation and animation itself matters. And the fact that people are in love with this film and in love with the music from this film, that will keep it going for a long time. So we’re really thrilled. And now the next beat is, where does it go from here?”

While the future of HUNTR/X remains to be seen, it’s clear that viewers want more — they’re certainly not done, done, done yet!
