A Nintendo Direct is still scheduled to take place in late July, according to the latest leaks and rumors. While specific details about the upcoming Nintendo Direct remain elusive as of this writing, titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and various third-party projects may make their appearances during the highly anticipated Nintendo broadcast.
The news came just days after the July 2025 Pokemon Presents, which focused on updates to current Pokemon titles and revealed further details on previously announced projects. Along with sharing the 2026 release window for Pokemon Champions, the final segment was dedicated to Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Viewers were introduced to more characters from Pokemon Legends: Z-A, along with the reveal of Mega Dragonite, the first new Mega Evolution form for the franchise since the sixth generation. Pokemon Legends: Z-A was also confirmed to have a Switch 2 bundle that will launch on October 16 at $499.

While rumors about the upcoming Nintendo Direct episode have indicated that the show will air sometime in July, a known leaker claimed that the show will still go on. According to CentroLeaks on Twitter, a Nintendo Direct is still slated to arrive during the final week of July, though Centro did not elaborate on what the broadcast would be about. Previous indicators from known industry leaker NateTheHate also stated a Nintendo Direct would air in late July, though no precise dates were stated. Even though details about the Nintendo Direct remain elusive, previous rumors concerning Nintendo’s third-party partners have stated that some companies have various Switch 2 projects ready to be announced, though they have held off due to a potential Nintendo Direct being imminent.
Rumor: Nintendo Direct Still Scheduled For Late July
As it stands, some third-party games that have been confirmed to receive Nintendo console ports include Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles and Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake. Given that both Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show are slated to happen in August and September, respectively, the late July window for a Nintendo Direct seems logical at a glance. Although Pokemon Legends: Z-A has its release date locked in, the anticipated launch of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond still has no precise date for fans to go off of.
With Metroid Prime 4: Beyond still being one of the major 2025 game launches to have no precise release date, a Nintendo Direct would be the ideal window for it. However, until Nintendo officially confirms when the next Direct will air, all rumors must be taken with a fine grain of salt.
