LSU has suspended JT Lindsey until the accessory charges against him are resolved, The Advocate’s Wilson Alexander reported. Lindsey turned himself in to police Friday.
Lindsey is facing two felony counts of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder, his attorney told WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge. The true freshman turned himself into university police Friday afternoon and was booked just after 4 p.m. local time.
Lindsey is accused of allowing two teenagers to stay at his dorm on LSU’s campus earlier this year. They were wanted on second-degree murder charges and were arrested at the Nicholson Gateway dorms Aug. 4, according to WAFB.
WAFB also reported marshals found multiple guns in the dorm, including two AR-15 rifles. Lindsey is friends with the suspects, who were believed to have been staying with him for nearly two weeks, according to the report.
The arrest warrant alleges Lindsey knew the two were wanted for second-degree murder and said investigators, “interviewed an associate of Lindsey, who advised that Lindsey has told the associate, prior to their apprehension, that Jacobs and Jordan were wanted for murder,” according to WAFB. It also alleges Lindsey “knowingly harbored and aided” the suspects.
However, Lindsey’s lawyer Kris Perret said the freshman running back was not aware the duo was wanted for second-degree murder. Additionally, Perret said they plan to fight the charges “vigorously” and released a lengthy statement regarding the situation.
“JT Lindsey is adamant that he is innocent of any alleged criminal misconduct and any allegations of wrongdoing against him,” Perret said in a statement. “He is fully cooperating with authorities and looks forward to clearing his name as quickly as possible. He was unaware that the individuals arrested had committed any crimes or that they had been accused of any crimes, or that they were wanted by the police for questioning when he allowed them to stay at his apartment.
“Had he known that the individuals were accused of any crimes or wanted by the police, he would not have allowed them into his apartment or associated with them in any manner. Furthermore, at no time did JT Lindsey do anything, nor take any actions, nor demonstrate any intent whatsoever to harbor, conceal or aid either of the accused and now arrested persons to avoid arrest, apprehension, trial, conviction or punishment for their crimes. He is glad that these individuals were taken into custody by authorities without incident.”
Lindsey is currently preparing for his freshman year at LSU after signing with the program as a four-star prospect. He was the No. 132 overall player and No. 7-ranked running back from the 2025 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking.
