Support has continued to pour in for former UFC star Ben Askren after he successfully underwent a double lung transplant after a long health battle.
Over a month ago, terrible news began to circulate that former UFC star Ben Askren was in a critical condition after a severe staph infection led to further health complications.
The combat sports world immediately began to rally behind Askren and a few weeks later, a somewhat positive update was provided after he was able to open his eyes.
Following his win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Jake Paul, Askren’s former opponent made an emotional plea and vowed to make a sizeable donation to help Askren secure the double lung transplant that he needed.

Fortunately, prayers were answered and Askren received a double lung transplant and the surgery was a success, his wife Amy updated the fans.
And then just a few weeks later, Askren provided an extremely emotional update of his own while lying in a hospital bed, stating that he ‘only died four times’.
With the wrestling legend now hopefully on the road to recovery, messages of support have continued to come in and Dana White has praised the ‘unbelievable’ warrior.
And now not long removed from Askren’s successful double lung transplant, his biggest rival ever Jorge Masvidal has sent him a heartfelt message of support.
“This goes out to the one and only, Ben Askren. What’s up my brother, I know we were rivals in the ring, I just want to say God bless you, when I get back to America, if I could come and shake your hand, brother, and just share a prayer with you, it’d be amazing,” Masvidal said in a video posted on social media.
“I know you’re gonna pull through this because you’re a f—— warrior, brother. God bless, your story is crazy inspirational what you’re going through right now, hoping to get back and just being able to shake your hand,” Masvidal continued.
The combat sports world continues to support Ben Askren in his recovery
Despite having received the life-saving double lung transplant, it is still a long road to recovery for ‘Funky’ Askren, but fortunately the combat sports world continues to rally around him with support.
“We love you buddy! You’re a fighter it’s why you are fighting back! Thank God we still have you,” Daniel Cormier commented on his post.
“Love you Ben… You have always been the toughest man I have ever been around in my entire life. Proud to call you my friend. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your belief in me,” Michael Chandler said.
