Jonah Winston, younger brother of Jameis Winston, commits to Florida State

Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles have added another prospect to #Tribe26, and the last name should be plenty familiar to FSU fans.

Jonah Winston, younger brother of Heisman Trophy-winner Jameis Winston, has decided to keep the family pipeline flowing to Tallahassee.

Jonah Winston, who goes by “JP”, is a 5-foot-9, 160 pound wide receiver who plays for Hoover High in Alabama. He is considered the 724th best player in the nation by 247Sports Composite (104th best WR, 26th best player in AL). He chose FSU over fellow finalists the Arkansas Razorbacks and Maryland Terrapins. He holds two dozen other offers from the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Colorado Buffaloes, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Missouri Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas A&M Aggies, and UCF Knights.

Winston has played just about every skill position imaginable for Hoover in his time there. Last year he led Hoover to a 10-3 record and finished with 38 catches for 542 yards and three touchdowns, leading the team in all three categories. He also ran 21 times for 152 yards and five touchdowns, an average of 7.2 yards per carry. He played QB and WR his sophomore season, accumulating 11 total touchdowns.

Despite having a loaded wide receiver class, Florida State decided to add Winston to the fold. It may mean the staff expects to lose a current commit or two, but this isn’t just a legacy favor to a former Seminole legend and his family. Winston displays some nice moves on the field:
