Last night, when Jhoan Duran was drilled in the ankle by a line drive, there was some trepidation about what the outcome would eventually be. For a moment, when he was unable to put weight on the leg, there was scenarios where everyone feared the worst. Instead, good news was sent down from above.
It’s the best possible outcome for the team, not having a broken bone in the ankle of their feared closer. There is likely a bone bruise in there somewhere and an injured list stint is probably forthcoming. However, there is about to be another flamethrowing reliever to join the team in the coming days. Sitting Duran down for at least ten days wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world when Alvarado returns, but we’ll have to wait and see how the rest of his evaluations turn out.
