Jason Kelce, President Trump, Sabrina Carpenter and other celebs react to proposal

It’s the engagement news heard all over the world: On Tuesday, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce revealed that they’re tying the knot with an Instagram carousel of photos showcasing their secret-garden-themed engagement and the old mine, brilliant-cut diamond ring Kelce used to pop the question.

According to Kelce’s dad, the NFL player popped the question nearly two weeks ago, at his home in Lee’s Summit, Mo.

“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’ … they got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,” Ed Kelce told News 5 Cleveland. “They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great.”

The news instantly prompted a slew of well-wishes from the couple’s many fans — including a number of fellow celebrities.

Below, we’ve rounded up some of the most notable celebrity reactions to the Swift-Kelce engagement.

President Trump

During a meeting with members of his Cabinet on Tuesday, President Trump was asked what he made of Swift and Kelce’s engagement news. Despite previously making his criticism of Swift public knowledge, Trump had nothing but warm wishes for the couple.

“Well, I wish him a lot of luck,” Trump said. “I think he’s a great player. He’s a great guy. And I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck.”

Jason Kelce

The former Philadelphia Eagles star wished the happy couple congratulations on an episode of the New Heights podcast, which he shares with brother Travis.

“There is one gigantic piece of new news that just hit the waves,” Jason Kelce said. “We did record this podcast on Monday, which was Travis’s one day off so he is not here to address this himself but we felt necessary here as a team on New Heights to get together and send Travis and Taylor a giant congratulations for being engaged. The proposal heard ‘round the world, f*** yeah.”

Sabrina Carpenter

“Manchild” hitmaker Sabrina Carpenter is sending warm wishes to Swift and Kelce. The pop star, who is featured on the title track of Swift’s forthcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, reshared the couple’s Instagram post onto her own Instagram Story, along with several white heart emojis.

Brittany and Patrick Mahomes

Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes, also reshared the newly engaged couple’s Instagram post to her Instagram Story.

“Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love. Just so happy for these two,” Mahomes wrote. Her quarterback husband also reacted to the engagement news, sharing three red hearts on his own Instagram Story, alongside the joint Swift-Kelce Instagram post.

Todrick Hall

Singer and choreographer Todrick Hall, who’s previously collaborated with Swift, gushed about the “Fortnight” singer’s big news. Hall shared a series of photos of himself and Swift, alongside a heartfelt caption congratulating her and Kelce.

“I remember having one of my many ‘therapy sessions’ with Taylor about wanting to fall in love and how I didn’t think there were very many guys that would be compatible with me. She responded with ‘you don’t need to find 1 million guys that are right for you, you just need to find one person who makes you the happiest person in the world,’” Hall wrote.
