EXCLUSIVE: Jake Johnson (New Girl, Minx) will star opposite Tatiana Maslany in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, from creator and showrunner David J. Rosen.
The half-hour darkly comedic thriller follows Paula (Maslany), a newly divorced mom who falls down a dangerous rabbit hole of blackmail, murder, and youth soccer.
Johnson will star as Karl, Paula’s ex-husband.
Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed will be directed and executive produced by David Gordon Green (Halloween). The series, from Apple Studios and Counterpart Studios, was developed by and will be executive produced by Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon for Genre Films under their first-look deal with Apple TV+, and Bard Dorros for Anonymous Content.
Johnson is a writer, director, producer and actor who most recently starred in, wrote and directed Self Reliance, which was released on Hulu on January 12, and reprised his role voicing Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. He will soon begin production on the pickleball comedy, The Dink, which Johnson will produce alongside Red Hour Films. Additional film credits include Ride The Eagle, To Plant a Flag, Let’s Be Cops, 21 Jump Street, and Jurassic World.
Recently for TV, he co-starred in and executive-produced two seasons of the comedy Minx from executive producer Paul Feig and Executive Producer/Creator Ellen Rapoport. Previously, he starred in the Netflix limited series Lost Ollie opposite Gina Rodriguez and on ABC’s crime-drama series Stumptown opposite Cobie Smulders. For his role on Fox’s New Girl, Johnson was nominated for a 2013 Television Critics Association Award in the category of Individual Achievement in Comedy.
