JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars changed the roster in a big way Tuesday.
Twelve days before the 2025 regular-season opener, the Jaguars had one of their busiest transaction days of the year as they reduced their roster to the NFL regular-season limit of 53 players.
Teams had until Tuesday at 4 p.m. EST to reduce to 53.
The Jaguars waived 28 players Tuesday, released five others, waived/injured one player, placed one on reserve/injured (designated to return) and one on injured reserve.
Safety Daniel Thomas was among the players released by the Jaguars Tuesday – and linebacker Chad Muma, defensive lineman Tyler Lacy, defensive lineman Jordan Jefferson, offensive lineman Javon Foster, cornerback De’Antre Prince and defensive end Myles Cole were among the players waived.
Thomas, a fifth-round selection by the Jaguars in the 2020 NFL Draft, had been a key special teams players the past five seasons. Muma was a third-round selection by the Jaguars in the 2022 NFL Draft, with Lacy a fourth-round selection by the Jaguars in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Four players from the team’s ’24 draft class were also waived Tuesday: Jefferson (fourth round), Prince (fourth round), Foster (fifth round) and Cole (seventh round).
