Lawrence, the Jaguars’ fifth-year quarterback, threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Parker Washington in the second quarter and ran for a 10-yard touchdown in the third quarter to rally the Jaguars from a 14-0 deficit.
The Chiefs had won 23 consecutive games when leading by 14 or more points. The Jaguars, after finishing 3-10 in one-score games in 2024, have won three consecutive such games.
“There was really no flinch or blink,” Coen said. “It really took all three phases. All three phases really impacted the game. The toughness and resiliency is really something I’m proud of.”
Lawrence completed 18 of 25 passes for 221 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 interception, and ran for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns on 10 carries. Running back Travis Etienne Jr. rushed for 49 yards on 12 carries.
Lawrence’s lone interception came early in the fourth quarter, with Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt’s five-yard run tying the game two plays after cornerback Trent McDuffie intercepted Lawrence at the Jaguars 19.
Mahomes completed 29 of 41 passes for 318 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 interception. The Jaguars registered no sacks and 1 takeaway, entering the game with an NFL-leading 13 takeaways.
“It was incredible,” Lloyd said. “We expected it to be electric and it was. I’m glad we were able to come out with a big win against a great team.”
