It sure seems like Kayla Nicole, Travis Kelce’s most recent ex-girlfriend, is using her Halloween costume to send a very specific message. Nicole, who dated Kelce from 2017 to 2022, dressed up as R&B singer Toni Braxton and recreated the music video for the song “He Wasn’t Man Enough” on Instagram. If the title wasn’t enough for you, the lyrics go something like this: “Listen, girl / Who do you think I am? / Don’t you know that he was my man? / But I chose to let him go / So why do you act like I still care about him?” A choice!
Could Nicole be responding to the alleged beef between her and Taylor Swift, Kelce’s fiancé? Sure. Fans have been theorizing that the singer was referring Nicole in “Opalite,” a song on The Life of a Showgirl, when she sings, “You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone / You were in it for real, she was in her phone / And you were just a pose.” Following the album’s release, a resurfaced clip of Kelce and Nicole made its rounds on social media — in it, Kelce can be heard saying, “Oh, my God. Get off your phone. Get off your phone. … You’re not even drinking your wine anymore, can we go?” which the Swifties have latched onto as confirmation.
While we’ll never know if the lyrics are in fact referencing Nicole, the commenters on Instagram sure seem to think her choice of costume is a direct reply. “The level of petty, slayage, and pure decimation needs to be studied,” one wrote, while another said, “Will the real showgirl step to the front!!!!!”
Now, do I want to see two grown women possibly fight over a theme park fanatic? Not really — but it sure is entertaining.
