iPhone 17 Pro Clear Case may feature redesign and possibly tinted options

Apple will unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in just a few days. Before that happens, leaker Majin Bu has provided new details about a third case option from Apple with some unexpected changes.

Leaker Majin Bu has been on a roll with reporting on what to expect when it comes to Apple’s iPhone 17 case options. From silicone cases with lanyard holes to a new TechWoven premium material and a Crossbody Strap attachment, we have a decent idea of what to expect from Apple’s newest accessory offerings.

The latest leak Majin Bu claims is that the Apple Clear Case for iPhone 17 Pro will have a few design changes. We’ll see two at launch, and a third could arrive in the future.

First, as expected, the Apple Clear Case will support the Crossbody Strap (or other lanyard accessories) thanks to the dual hole cutouts on either side of the bottom of the case.

Next, Majin Bu says the back of the Apple Clear Case won’t actually be clear. Instead, it will have a partially transparent body that still covers some of the back of the iPhone. The current version includes some white material that makes up the magnetic portion of the MagSafe attachment. The new version features a large white area with an Apple logo printed. Majin Bu says this Apple logo is positioned to provide visual balance. We’ll see in just over a week.

It’s a bit of an odd look, but these “clone” products usually don’t look as nice as the real products.

For reference, this is the current iPhone 16 Pro Clear Case design:

Lastly, Majin Bu claims that Apple has tested tinted versions of the Apple Clear Case. While he doesn’t expect these to launch alongside the (mostly) clear version, he leaves the door open for these tinted options to be seasonal or limited in some capacity down the line.

For now, we’ll have to wait a few more days and see how this all pans out. Apple has set its major fall event for September 9 with the “Awe dropping” tagline. We expect to see four new iPhones, at least two new Apple Watches, and possibly new AirPods Pro. 9to5Mac’s Chance Miller and I will bring you hands-on coverage from the event!
