Infographic details 15 years of Samsung camera innovations: from the original Galaxy S to today

The very first Samsung Galaxy S phone was announced a long 15 years ago – a lot has changed in smartphone photography since then.

That original S-phone had a 5MP camera that could record 720p video. The latest Galaxy S25 Ultra has a 200MP camera and can record 8K video – that’s 4320p! To put it another way, the resolution for still images has increased 40x, while video recording has 36x the number of pixels.

That’s just the main camera – one of the biggest changes since 2010 is the growing number of cameras. The S25 Ultra has four on its back, including a new 50MP ultra-wide, a 50MP 5x/111mm periscope and a 10MP 3x/67mm mid-range telephoto.
