Hydrate Medical introduces ketamine therapy in Asheville to aid mental health recovery

Hydrate Medical is expanding its services to offer ketamine therapy one day a week, according to a news release.

Ketamine therapy will be administered by Keith Parris, an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, every Tuesday.

“Hurricane anniversaries often bring a resurgence of emotional distress, anxiety, and trauma-related symptoms. In areas like Asheville and the surrounding mountain communities, where natural disasters have left a lasting impact, access to innovative mental health care is more crucial than ever,” said Hydrate Medical in the news release.

According to the news release, ketamine therapy is a form of therapy that treats drug-resistant depression, PTSD, OCD, and anxiety. The release says ketamine is a “non-narcotic medication.”

Per the release, ketamine works by targeting glutamate receptors in the brain, leading to “rapid relief of depressive symptoms and promoting long-term healing.”

“Our goal is to offer more than hydration services—we want to be a wellness partner for the whole person,” said Keith Parris, mental health provider and co-founder of Hydrate Medical and Derive Health. “Bringing ketamine therapy to Asheville gives us another tool to help people who feel like they’ve tried everything else.”

According to the release, nearly 80% of treatment-resistant depression patients have reported significant improvement when using ketamine in a supportive therapeutic setting.
