SiriusXM host Howard Stern’s future at the subscription satellite radio company seems to in jeopardy, according to multiple reports.
The U.S. Sun cited unnamed sources in a Tuesday report that indicated Stern’s show is set to be canceled. The Daily Mail also used unnamed sources in a report that said Stern is in negotiations with Sirius and may be parting ways with the company.
Stern, 71, has handled high-profile interviews, ranging from politicians to celebrities, during about 20 years with Sirius. He signed a five-year contract extension in December 2020 which would continue his show through the end of this year. The Associated Press reported at the time that Stern was making $90 million annually.
The reports prompted rumors to start swirling on social media about the show’s future. Neither Stern nor Sirius had confirmed the report as of Wednesday morning.
Stern left his syndicated radio morning show to join Sirius in 2006 after battling with the Federal Communications Commission and conservative critics over the show’s content, the Associated Press reported in 2004.
Stern has two separate channels on SiriusXM, and his empire has expanded to include video content.
